Luke, as he's older, in his declining years, reminisces to the tune of
"American Pie" by Don McLean...

A long, long time ago
I can still remember how the twin sunsets used to make me smile
And I knew that if I had the chance
I'd fly the best right out of their pants
And maybe I'd get off Tatooine for a while...

The Tusken Raiders made me shiver
then my dad's old lightsaber got delivered
my family's bodies on the doorstep
I couldn't take another step

I was strong, I never cried
For my Uncle, or his bride
But something touched me deep inside
the day, Kenobi died

So,
{REFRAIN}
bye-bye, my old mentor Jedi
flew the falcon to the Death Star, so Leia wouldn't die
Vader came, and in the blink of an eye
I was left alone and wonderin' why
left alone and wonderin' why

Oh, you never told me what was true
You used your "certain point of view"
I never got to tell you so
Your point of view, it tooks it's toll
Now a bluish haze around your soul
And now I cannot tell you what I know

Now I know that you're somewhere with him
I saw you all, in the light so dim
with Anakin, and Yoda too
But no one else, saw the three of you

I was a lonely teenage broncin' buck
And I now knew Leia, I could never $#@%
And I knew my life started to suck
The day Kenobi died

I started singin'
{REFRAIN}

Now, for so long I've been on my own
My girls die off, and I'm all alone
But that's not how it used to be
The Holocron, well it showed me
The orgies of the olden days
When Jedi worked their Jedi ways

But back to that so fateful day
When my mentor, Ben, was taken away
All had stopped to watch the duel
When fate, it played a trick so cruel
For reasons that I never understood
Ben raised his saber to the air
He knew he'd die, he didn't care
He left an empty cloak and empty hood

We were singing...
{REFRAIN}

So we flew off, and Ben was dead
left with his voice stuck in my head
and on my Death Star run, again
came the voice of dear old Ben
"use the Force" I heard him say
and I put my targeting system away

pulled the trigger, made the shot
hit it dead right on the spot
and when they all were gathered 'round
and no one spoke...no not a sound
"It all goes back", I said, then sighed
"to the day....Keno-bi died"

We started singin'...
bye-bye, my old mentor Jedi
flew the falcon to the Death Star, so Leia wouldn't die
Vader came, and in the blink of an eye
I was left alone and wonderin' why
left alone and wonderin' why
